Well, friends, it’s finally here!
This year’s summer reading list!
I’m thrilled to unveil another selection of books that I hope will transport you to different worlds, spark new ideas, and offer a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
It warms my heart to see how eagerly anticipated this list has become among our Facebook book club members. Your enthusiasm truly fuels my passion for sharing these titles with you all.
As life kicks into high gear out here on the farm over the next couple of months with seeding, endless yard work and the demands of winding down another school year (not to mention a major farmhouse renovation), I’m reminded of the importance of carving out time for relaxation and rejuvenation. Amidst the chaos, it’s crucial to pause, breathe, and indulge in the simple pleasure of getting lost in a good book.
For me, the summer reading challenge isn’t just about checking off titles from a list; it’s about reconnecting with a beloved pastime that nourishes my soul. As I’ve discovered time and time again, reading isn’t just a hobby – it’s a tonic for the mind, body, and spirit.
So let’s get on with it, shall we?
If you’re among the rare few who haven’t already scrolled straight to the book list – a habit most of us adopt when perusing a recipe blog post (let’s be real, the blogger could confess to a misdemeanour in the first 2000 words and hardly anyone would notice… but I digress) – then your patience is about to be rewarded.
Without further ado, I present to you my eagerly anticipated 2024 summer reading list!
Oh and please join the Facebook book club if you haven’t already. It’s a great space to connect and share your reviews on what you are reading and it doesn’t have to be from this list! It’s truly a lovely community of readers.
Happy Reading!
PS. Just click on each title to take you to Amazon where you can add to cart and have each book shipped to you in just days!
Reading For Entertainment
Here are the novels I’ll be curling up with on a beach chair, in the Boler, or under a cozy blanket this summer.

Before the Swallows Come Back by Fiona Curnow
Perfect for fans of Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, and Sal by Mik Kitson, with its celebration of the natural world, its misunderstood central characters living on the outside of society’s norms, their survival in the wilderness, and the ultimate fight for justice.
Before the Swallows Come Back is a story of love, found family, and redemption that will break your heart and have it soaring time and time again as you sit on the edge of your seat desperately hoping. ~Amazon
The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros

But when a vanishing bookshop casts its spell, these three unsuspecting strangers will discover that their own stories are every bit as extraordinary as the ones found in the pages of their beloved books. And by unlocking the secrets of the shelves, they find themselves transported to a world of wonder… where nothing is as it seems. ~Amazon
Funny Story by Emily Henry
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.
Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak. ~Amazon
This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. It’s easier said than done. ~Amazon
