Holiday Gift Guide 2020

Spread the love

Some of my blog posts contain affiliate links to products that I may receive a commission on when purchases are made through these links. This is at no additional cost to you. Thank you for supporting my blog.

This holiday season you might be thinking that online shopping is your safest strategy in order to avoid large crowds in shopping centres or congested local boutiques. But, before you hit the ‘Add to Cart’ button on the big box or online retailer sites, why not research whether you can purchase that same gift from a local retailer? Even if that shop around the corner doesn’t have an online store, most provide curbside pick up or even deliver and there will definitely be a human picking up the phone if you give them a ring.

Before we get to my EPIC list of gift ideas from local shops in my province, I want to point out that little disclaimer at the top of this page. That disclaimer is automatically published on every post I write because I do belong to a couple of affiliate network programs and I am required, by law, to tell you that.

But, for my 2020 Holiday Gift Guide, I am only sharing gift ideas from Saskatchewan businesses and artisans (with a handful of my favourite Canadian companies), none of which are affiliate partners.

This means I will not receive any compensation for sharing these gift ideas with you. I am sharing this Holiday Gift Guide because I truly believe we can find the perfect gift for everyone on our list in our own backyard. And, during these incredibly challenging times, our local shop owners, restauranteurs and entrepreneurs need our support more than ever before.

If you don’t live in Saskatchewan, I hope this Holiday Gift Guide provides you with some excellent gift ideas and inspires you to find treasures in your own local shops. But take note, some of these local shops do ship anywhere in Canada and beyond!

Shop Local Holiday Gift Guide 2020

I wanted to point out that there are many shops and markets in Saskatchewan that exclusively carry Saskatchewan Made or Canadian Made products. Check out Local Market YQR, Brick and Mortar or SaskMade Marketplace for a collection of locally grown, baked, and created goods all in one spot.

Gifts For the Food & Wine Lover

Since I love food and wine, I’m starting off with gift ideas for the foodie or wine enthusiast in your life. Regina is quite lucky to have a handful of shops that carry kitchen gadgets, accessories and must-haves. Here’s what’s on my top 10 list for this year.

  1. Wine Carafe – U+Me Home
  2. Thermaworks Thermometer – Kitchen Gear
  3. Salt Cellar – Mortise & Tenon
  4. Charcuterie Board – U+Me Home
  5. French Oven – Kitchen Gear
  6. Cast Iron Skillet – Kitchen Gear
  7. Garlic Keeper – Prairie Moon Handmade
  8. Royal Doulton Inspirational Bowls – Crocus & Ivy
  9. Flat Out Delicious – Jenn Sharp
  10. Carving Knife – Kitchen Gear

What’s On My Christmas List?

Someone make sure the Farmer checks out this blog post! Thanks!

It was super easy for me to make my Christmas Wish List to include all local shops. Who remembers going to Checkers circa 1995? I will die if the Checkers Scotland Yard hoodie is under the tree for me this year!

Truthfully though, I’ll be over the moon if any of these beautiful items are in my stocking this year.

1. Bella Chic – Blue Light Glasses 2. Swedish Dish Cloths – Kitchen Gear
3. Derma Posh Gift Card 4. H&B Hoop Earrings 5. Ruby Reid Candle
6. Wine Sloth Sweatshirt 7. Megan Hazel Rose Quartz Ring
8. Checkers Scotland Yard Hoodie 9. Prairie Beauty Holiday Gift Box
10. Pink Chickie Scrunchies & Masks 11. Wine Door Mat – Crocus & Ivy
12. Montgomery Creek Kitchen Sign

Gifts For Him

I can always count on Colin O’Brian Man’s Shoppe in Regina and K.W. Men’s Wear in Yorkton for a nice tie, boxers or fun socks for the Farmer’s stocking but here are some other great gift ideas he’ll also love.

  1. Field Dopp Kit – Hardpressed
  2. Beard Gift Set – Mortise & Tenon
  3. Yeti Rambler Colster Can Insulator – Western Cycle Source for Sports
  4. Hoodie – 22Fresh
  5. Walnut Beer Flight Board – Kannwood Timberworks
  6. Black Fox Award Winning Oaked Gin and Set of Whiskey Glass Tumblers
  7. Full Grain Leather Wallet – Hyde Artisan Leather
  8. SAXX Underwear – K.W. Men’s Wear
  9. Ball Cap – Prairie Proud
  10. Sasky Driver Cover – PLYR

If your man is a beer drinker, a gift card for a growler or 6 pack of his favourite local ale would make a nice stocking stuffer. There are a couple of local breweries that the Farmer quite enjoys like The Back Forty in Yorkton (his favourite is the Honey Brown Ale) and Rebellion Brewhouse that has this awesome Pandamonium Beer & Glassware Set right now.

Gifts For Her

There are so many local shops and artisans offering the most beautiful gifts that I had a hard time narrowing down this list. A few of my favourite local clothing stores are Bella Chic, Uptown Casuals, Losa Chic, and Pulse Apparel. The latter three are actually in Yorkton which is so amazing to have incredible clothing stores so close to the farm.

  1. Good Vibes Only Chain – DBL Designs
  2. Custom Sign – Forrest and Ferro
  3. Snake Plant in Ceramic Pot – Fat Plant Farm
  4. Triple Treat Gift Pack – Pickle and Bee
  5. Patio Cup – Prairie Moon Handmade
  6. Peace Hoodie – Lady Getz
  7. Cozy Shawl – Sweet & Sassy Boutique
  8. Key Ring – Prairie Path Creations
  9. Matt & Nat Make-Up Bag Set – Pulse Apparel
  10. Mask – Pink Chickie Scrunchies with Mask Lanyard – Delightful Skies

Shameless plug alert! I also happen to think that the Living My Best Life Game Changer Pullover Hoodie from Wotherwill Group will make an incredible gift this year. Trust me when I say this hoodie is so soft and cozy that the lucky recipient will never want to take it off! Use the Black Friday code below any time between now and midnight on November 30th to receive 15% off…while quantities last.

A Flower Subscription from Wascana Flower Shoppe, All About Flowers or Pennock Road Petals is a gift that keeps on giving the whole year through. I love fresh flowers so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’m on Santa’s Nice List this year and will find a membership to a flower club under the tree.

I’m not sure if Florissima has a flower subscription but they are the loveliest people and certainly make beautiful bouquets and arrangements. They also have some super cute Christmas decor items right now. I mean, with three amazing flower shops this close to the farm, how can I not have fresh flowers in the house all of the time?

For Christmas Decor

If you’re looking for great shops to not only find the best Christmas decor but everyday decor for your home as well, there are a few places in Regina and the surrounding area that I’m loving! Have you noticed it’s a Gnome kind of Christmas this year? Eeek! I can’t even handle how cute these little figurines are!

For Christmas Cheer

Planning on meeting up with a friend or family for a socially distant Christmas visit? For a fun and unique experience, make sure to check out Bar Willow Eatery in Wascana Park. Their heated outdoor patio is open and ready for you to head in and enjoy delicious wines and delectable eats around a cozy fire. Plus, you can purchase unique wines through off-sale that you can’t find anywhere else in Saskatchewan which would be amazing for Christmas dinner or as a gift for the wine enthusiast on your list (ahem…raises hand).

If craft beer and delicious pub food is more your thing, check out the Cathedral Social Hall for a super fun social atmosphere in a spacious environment that allows for social distancing while connecting with friends and family. Pick up a gift card on your way out and sneak it into a special someone’s stocking!

Oh Canada

I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to a few of my favourite Canadian shops. I am obsessed with Smash + Tess rompers and have quite a nice collection right now. I basically lived in my S+T rompers while working from home.

My new absolute favourite online clothing store is Fox + Wit Boutique. I am in LOVE with so many of their pieces and it’s awesome that they cater to us curvy babes.

I also love The Cross Decor & Design and cannot wait until we can travel again so I can visit their beautiful store in Vancouver.

Looking for a cookbook to give your foodie? The Fraiche Food Full Hearts cookbook authored by Canada’s own Jillian Harris and Tori Wesszer is a beautiful cookbook with delicious recipes. I can’t get enough of their French Onion Soup!

Oh, and Sweetapolita is ridiculously adorable and I want all of their things! If there is a baker in your life, trust me when I tell you the Mini Holiyay Surprise Bag is sure to score you major points in the gift-giving department. They even have a vegan/gluten-free option!

I hope this holiday season, you will consider supporting our local growers, makers, brewers, retailers, servers, spa owners, bakers and farmers by nurturing their small businesses and boosting the economy in your own city. Local shops and small businesses are the life-blood of our communities and the fabric upon which the uniqueness of each city, town, and village is made.

But don’t delay…start ordering your gift items today so you aren’t left disappointed!

May the spirit of Christmas fill your heart this holiday season and stay with you the whole year through. xo
