Looking for some food ideas to make Valentine’s Day extra special this February 14th? I’ve got you covered with delicious pink and heart-shaped food ideas that will take you from breakfast to supper with some sweet treats sprinkled in between.

I love Valentine’s day…all things pink, hearts and romance? Yes, please! It’s also the perfect opportunity to bake cakes, cupcakes and cookies! Depending on when this day of love falls, The Farmer and I may celebrate by making a new recipe together at home on the farm while enjoying a nice bottle of wine instead of trying to get a dinner reservation in the city.

Here are some fun and adorable food ideas for two or your whole family.

Valentine’s Day Food Ideas

Fall In Love With Breakfast

Whether it’s a leisurely breakfast in bed for two or a family pyjama party around the kitchen table, these heart-shaped waffles are going to be the perfect way to start your Valentine’s Day. Make these waffles using a heart-shaped waffle maker and then top these adorable cakes with syrup, whipped cream, strawberries or even sprinkles.

All You Need Is Love…And Cupcakes!

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to break out the sprinkles, buttercream icing and heart-shaped cookie cutters and get baking. Cupcakes are my favourite sweet treat to bake and there are so many ways you can decorate. I tried this hack this year to create heart-shaped cupcakes and they turned out great!

Simply fill your cupcake liners with your favourite cupcake batter and then place a ball of tin foil at the top to make a heart. So easy and so cute!

Another fun way to decorate cupcakes is by creating chocolate toppers.

I found a font I liked on Canva and simply printed it and placed it under a sheet of parchment paper to trace. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and allow it to cool for a bit. Spoon the chocolate into a piping bag with a round piping tip and begin to trace the lettering.

A Pizza Love Affair

A heart-shaped pie is an easy meal to make and a great way to get the whole family involved with creating their own pizza. You could get really creative and make heart-shaped toppings as well. Either make your dough from scratch and roll it out in the shape of a heart or use a pizza cutter to cut a heart into a pre-made pizza. Either way, this is a fun lunch or supper meal idea for Valentine’s Day. Serve with a watermelon salad on the side to stick with the red and pink theme.

Sweet Snack Boards

It’s no secret I love snack boards and you can literally create a snack board for anything…breakfast, tacos, dessert. So fun! Try a candy snack board by filling it with pink, red and white candy and treats or a meat and cheese board with pops of red and heart-shaped dishes.

Spaghetti is Love

This is one of our favourite recipes…especially for Valentine’s Day or a date night. It’s called Drunken Spaghetti or Spaghetti All’Ubriaco. You can get our recipe here but basically, you cook spaghetti in an entire bottle of red wine. Don’t worry, you won’t get intoxicated from this recipe. The alcohol boils off and leaves behind a delicious flavour and a beautiful red spaghetti.

Cake Love

Here is another baking hack for baking a heart-shaped cake if you don’t have a heart-shaped cake pan. Simply use your favourite cake batter and divide between a round cake pan and a square cake pan that are the same size. I used 8″ cake pans for this cake which turned out quite large. 6″ cake pans might be better. Simply cut the round cake in half and arrange it around the square cake that is placed on your cake plate as a diamond. Then ice it and decorate!

I hope these ideas have inspired you to have some fun with your food this Valentine’s Day. Please share your creations that were inspired by me on your social media pages and tag me. I love seeing what you’re creating in the kitchen.
