Essential Carry-On Travel Items

When flying out on a long weekend getaway, there are a few essential travel items I make sure I don’t leave home without. I am rarely successful at getting away with just a carry-on bag (why do I need so many shoes?!?!) but here are some essential items you will find in my carry-on whether it’s the only luggage traveling with me or I’ve had to check a giant suitcase. A durable and functional carry-on bag is essential! Having one that is super cute is a bonus. I love this one by Herschel Supply Co. because it has a durable, hard shell and four wheels.

2. Packing Cubes, Set of 6 (Pink)

My husband has been using these for quite some time now and I was amazed at how much he can pack into a small space using packing cubes. Of course, I had to get myself a pink set.

3. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

I can’t go anywhere without lip balm . I love Burt’s Bees because it is all-natural and comes in a variety of beautiful tint colours.

4. Herschel Chapter Neoprene Toiletry Kit

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a fan of Herschel Supply Co. I love that they are Canadian and it’s a bonus that they make beautiful and functional accessories perfect for traveling and exploring. I am in love with this toiletry kit, especially the colour! But don’t worry, it comes in a number of colours and patterns.

5. Passport Holder Wallet Cover Case

With a Passport Cover and Wallet I don’t have to worry about bringing my whole wallet with me on vacation. I just add my credit card, healthcare card, and some local currency along with my passport and that’s all I need.

6. GGMM Noise Isolating Earbuds

I always travel with my iPhone earbuds but I also make sure I have a pair of these in the event there is a movie on the airplane I want to watch or my husband and I have downloaded a series or movie on the iPad. These earbuds in beautiful rose gold will block out noise and they have excellent sound quality plus, they’re inexpensive which is a bonus because I always seem to lose mine.

7. Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer

When you live on the prairies, moisturizer is your best friend. I love Hempz Body Moisturizer which comes in a variety of delicious fragrances. They also have travel sizes, perfect for your purse or carry-on.

8. Portable Travel-Size USB Essential Oil Diffuser

A Portable Essential Oil Diffuser has become my new travel essential. As soon as I arrive at the hotel I plug it in and cleanse the air with a purifying essential oil like Thieves. I also make sure I’ve packed my Lavendar in the event I have trouble sleeping.

9. Corkcicle Tumbler Stainless Steel Travel Mug

I rarely leave home without either a Corkcicle Tumbler or Corkcicle Canteen Water Bottle. I love them because it will keep my coffee hot and my cocktail or water cold. Corkcicle has a plethora of styles and colours to choose from.

10. Whisper Network: A Novel

I never leave on vacation without at least one book. This was a recent Reese Witherspoon recommendation so I have added it to my list.

11. Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush

I love this hair appliance because it’s the only thing I need to pack! No need for a straightener or curling iron because this makes my hair look beautifully smooth every day.

12. Nylon Braided iPhone Charger

This item is a no-brainer. No one can leave home without an iPhone Charger. I like this one because (of course) it’s rose gold and because it’s 3 ft. long.

It doesn’t seem to matter where I’m heading or for how long, I make sure these 12 items are coming along with me in my carry-on. You may have picked up on my obsession with pink and rose gold but have no fear, most of these items likely come in your favourite colour also.
