Whether you are planning to celebrate at a grown-up monster bash or stay home to raid the kids’ candy stash after they FINALLY fall asleep, there’s a spooktacular wine for that!

I always say that the best wine is the wine you LOVE but if you’re hoping to discover a candy-wine-match-made-in-heaven or you’re looking for wicked wine to serve at a Halloween party, I’m here to help!

Spooky looking wine labels are the perfect touch for your Halloween party. Here are 10 wine suggestions with labels that are going to fit with the decor and theme of a spooky soiree.

Wicked Hallo-WINE Ideas

  1. Ghost Pines Merlot (USA)
  2. Chronic Cellars Purple Paradise (USA)
  3. The Velvet Devil Merlot (USA)
  4. Fat Bastard Bloody Red (FRA)
  5. 7 Deadly Zins Zinfandel (USA)
  6. Razor’s Edge Shiraz (AUS)
  7. Ravenswood Besieged (USA)
  8. The Walking Dead Blood Red (USA)
  9. 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon (AUS)
  10. Apothic Dark Red (USA)

I haven’t tried all of these wines, but I can recommend The Velvet Devil Merlot, 7 Deadly Zins, and 19 Crimes Cab Sauv. Apothic is also a popular wine label although I don’t prefer it myself.

Perfect Candy and Wine Pairings

If you’re planning to consume scary amounts of candy this Halloween and are looking to pair your candy choices with a wine that compliments, here are some suggestions.

Sparkling

Sparkling wines like Champagne, Prosseco, Cava, and Sparkling Rosé are excellent wines to pair with sweet candies like licorice, candy corn, Nerds, and Starbursts. Did you know potato chips and champagne are a delectable pairing? It’s surprisingly good!

Dry Whites

If you are digging through the Halloween candy bowl with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio in hand, try some Skittles or jelly beans. The sweetness of the candy paired with the dryness of these whites will be a nice balance.

Sweet Whites

Pair candies that make you pucker like Sour Patch Kids, Sweet Tarts, and Jolly Ranchers with sweet wines like Reisling, Gewürztraminer, and Moscato.

Light Reds

Light reds like Pinot Noir and Gamay are going to pair well with Twix Bars, Wonderbars and Aero bars that are powerfully sweet. You are in for a sweet and spicy experience with this pairing.

Medium Reds

Zinfandels and Merlots are the perfect pair for rich, dark chocolate like Hershey’s candy bars or kisses, M&Ms and Raisinets. The chocolate is going to bring out the chocolatey, smooth finish often noted in a Merlot and pair nicely with a fruit-forward Zinfandel.

Bold Reds

Basically, any milk chocolate bar in the candy bowl is going to pair well with a Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec or Shiraz so grab Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, Snickers bar, and Mr. Big and prepare yourself for a decadently sweet and smooth experience.

Of course, these are just suggestions. I encourage you to experiment with your wine and candy pairings to see what goes well together or provides an interesting flavour combination.

How fun would it be to host a Halloween Wine Tasting party where each offering is paired with a complimentary candy? So fun!
